Beat That Quote and EU Anti-Discrimination Laws

12 Mar

Just a quick note to say how ridiculous the ruling by the EU is on the matter of unlawful gender discrimination by motor insurers. As the EU has now declared it is unlawful to have lower premiums for young female drivers over young male drivers, one now has to ask the following question:

Is it then also unlawful to have lower car insurance premiums for senior drivers (age discrimination) or disabled drivers (disability discrimination). What a ridiculous state of affairs! The EU – don’t you just love them – useless individuals, all of them!

Beat that Quote Acquired by Google
Google’s has recently purchased BeatThatQuote for a tidy £37 million. It is possibly true that Google’s strategy is to buy up verticals wherever they can, effectively positioning themselves to squeeze out competition later down the line. At some point, your bread-and-butter SERPs for ‘cheap car insurance’ or whatever isn’t just going to throw back the big names in the industry, but Google’s own products.

The team at BeatThatQuote think this deal is a tremendous opportunity for their company to develop new and innovative options for personal finance in the UK. The company is also confident that by combining BeatThatQuote.com’s expertise in UK financial products with Google’s technology, they will accelerate innovation in this field, benefiting consumers and the companies offering these products.
