As somebody who does a lot driving for my job it surprised me to read over the weekend that according to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents there’s at least one business-related road fatality every day in the UK. This accounts for about 16% of UK road deaths every year!
According to RoSPA, Great Britain now enjoys one of the best road safety records in the world – but with around eight people still dying on Britain’s roads every day there is much more to be done.
Their is a great Young Drivers at Work project operated by RoSPA which aims to reduce the number of crashes involving young people driving for their work. Specifically, the results of RoSPA’s project designed to get a better understanding of the risks faced, and created, by young (17-24 years) drivers at work and was published in March 2009. This freely available document will help employers and road safety professionals to better understand the risks for young at-work drivers, give guidance on how those risks can be reduced and what help employers want.
MORR™ Review
The MORR™ Review is the ideal starting point from which to identify any risks the organisation faces, the measures already in place and what further action is needed.
The MORR™ Review consultancy service from RoSPA (See website - Driver & Fleet Solutions) will generate effective recommendations to reduce your accidents and costs. RoSPA’s MORR™ consultant will spend time with your organisation, assessing existing systems, policies, procedures, control measures and documentation to build an accurate picture of the existing accident risk and safety performance of your fleet and drivers.
